Senatobia to erect a monument in honor of displaced persons from Latvia
The Senatobia Board of Aldermen granted a request to erect a monument in honor of displaced persons from Latvia who lived in Mississippi's Tate County following World War II.
At their August 3 meeting, the Senatobia Board of Aldermen granted a request to erect a monument in honor of displaced persons from Latvia who lived in Tate County following World War II.
Senatobia resident Gale Cushman stated that there was local interest in commemorating the area in Bethesda Cemetery where the Latvians are buried by erecting a monument in their honor. The board granted her request to explore the purchase of a suitable marker for that reason.
